Library Tours

The below library (walking) tours will be offered on Wednesday, 7 August 2024, prior to the Welcome Reception.
Delegates will visit the libraries by foot.
There is no additional expense for these library tours.

Supreme Court Library of South Australia / Federal Court of Australia

The Courts Administration Authority Library Service manages the delivery of legal information services to assist the judiciary in the administration of justice in South Australia. The Library delivers a comprehensive range of information services, manages access to an extensive collection of print and digital resources, and maintains chambers collections for the Supreme Court, District Court, Magistrates Courts, Youth Court and Environment, Resources and Development Court. The Supreme Court Library also provides legal practitioners and self-represented litigants with access to a major legal research collection. The Federal Court of Australia Library supports the work of the Judges, Registrars and staff of the Federal Court of Australia, Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, and the President, Members, Registrar and staff of the National Native Title Tribunal.


The Sir John Salmond Law Library

Time: 2.30pm – 3.30pm

A tour of the Sir John Salmond Law Library which is a research and reference library offering access to a rich collection of Australian and international legal resources. From 1967, it relocated to the Ligertwood building, and is co-located with the Adelaide Law School, providing research support to students, staff, and academics with print and online collections. The tour will include a visit to the Barr Smith Library Reading Room, which opened in 1932, and is one of the most beautiful scholarly spaces in Australia. Since the 1890’s, generations of the students have spent many hours studying in the Library, poring over its extensive collections.


South Australian Parliament Research Library
